The total benefit entitlement will be capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule will have a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule will provide individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits will not be available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and will not be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
The Australian Government will send a notification of eligibility to eligible children or their families in early 2014.
